ABOUT THE FACULTY

The Faculty of Law and Administration was established in 1945 as one of the first schools of the University of Lodz, Poland. With its over 200 scholars and nearly 3000 students it’s a vibrant hub of legal research and education on BA, MA and PhD level. The School comprises over 20 departments, teen number of research centres and a commercial  Expert Knowledge Centre. It cultivates active international cooperation within bilateral agreements and the UNIC consortium of the European University of Post-Industrial Cities for stronger scientific, social and economic impact.

The mission of the School is to strive for scientific and didactic excellence at the national and international level aiming to prepare for service in a democratic state under the rule of law, to educate in the spirit of the highest ethical values, as well as to undertake any other activities serving the development of science and society.

The School reaches out a supportive hand based on the principle of inclusiveness, respect and commitment, helping the entire society take a step from the present to the future. In its actions the School is driven by courage, curiosity and cooperation, because only joint effort brings powerful results. Therefore, the mission of School is to serve the well-being of people and the planet in the spirit of "law is the art of applying what is good and right."

Many of the faculty members are double career academics and law practitioners e. g. judges, attorneys, prosecutors to benefit from better understanding of the combination of law in theory and practice. Students are also encouraged to combine their studies with young research and hand-on experience. The Schools goes an extra mile to provide high-standard of student and staff support services to facilitate better development opportunities.
